Looking out onto Conception Bay, Holyrood greets the horizon with purpose and promise. The town offers the best of all possible worlds, says Chief Administration Officer Gary Corbett: “With its big-city potential and small-town feel, our community promotes research and industry in a relaxed environment.”

The Ocean Holyrood Initiative, a collaboration of like-minded partners, including Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, promotes cutting-edge research and product development global ocean industries.

Here, the Cold Oceans Research & Innovation Hub (Oceana) leverages a partnership between the town and the Marine Institute to form a unique cluster of research and enterprise offering ultra-modern facilities.

Here, The Stores at Holyrood showcases 20-plus acres of commercial development strategically located at the heart of town; while The BeachHead Innovation Centre provides technology entrepreneurs with prime office space, access to industry-leading experts and world-class support services.

Then, there’s Blue Ocean Industrial Place, which provides 50 acres of prime land for industrial facilities, lay-down spaces, warehousing, fabrication, and manufacturing. These tactical locations are just 30-45 minutes via the Trans-Canada Highway to major development sites such as Bull Arm, St. John’s, and Argentia.

Holding it all together is a people-centric ethos, a talent pool that’s ready and willing to be part of something special. More than 60 per cent of the workforce holds a post- secondary degree or certificate.

Mayor Gary Goobie proudly boasts, “Our community’s size allows us to be flexible, collaborative, and most importantly, authentic. Our promise is to work with people to achieve their goals – whether they are entrepreneurs looking to open a business, an existing business looking to expand, an organization seeking top talent, or ocean researcher seeking innovative possibilities.”

The bottom line is that with access to a pristine harbour with world-class research facilities, ample land available for development, major international markets and bustling domestic industries, Holyrood is the ideal location for businesses of all types.
