What does Nexus Robotics do?
“We design and build robots that pull weeds out of vegetable crops,” explains Teric Greenan. The latest version of the robot is called La Chevre (the goat) and is roughly the size of a small tractor. As it travels through a field, it uses a camera system and artificial intelligence to identify weeds, and then pulls them out without harming the crops. Nexus won’t actually sell its robots to farmers. Instead, it will lease them out for the growing season. “We are essentially a weeding service and farmers pay us to utilize the robot for the year,” says Greenan.
