Startup founder Max Barnett revives cash economy

Max Barnett isn’t your typical startup founder. He hasn’t joined an accelerator, raised outside capital or registered his company. What he has done is self-fund a ‘cash economy’ revival in Halifax and Dartmouth. Nova ATM, the venture he and a former marine-parts entrepreneur launched earlier this year, installs cash machines in small businesses. It makes money by charging a small fee per transaction. Less than a year in, Barnett said “partnerships are everything” at this stage of his entrepreneurial journey.
