A notable number of home sales in Newfoundland and Labrador are taking place without a professional inspection of the property before closing. Heading into 2026, realtors credit the rate of no-inspection sales to the overlap between urban home sales and a growing but strained rental market.
Licensed realtor Jerry Boyles, an agent with Royal LePage Property Consultants, spoke to the CBC on the issue for a story published at the start of July 2025. He made a point of saying all homebuyers should have an inspection of any property they plan to purchase. However, as he told Atlantic Business in late November, the no-inspection sales trend hadn’t shifted, even after being publicly flagged with related warnings.
