The co-founder and CTO of TrojAI says ChatGTP has opened new markets for his five-year-old cybersecurity firm. Now, with an office in Boston and twice the staff, this Saint John-based techpreneur is ready for a relaunch.

What is TrojAI’s story?

In 2022, James Stewart’s Saint John-based TrojAI was a successful three-year-old cybersecurity firm productively helping companies fight off all manner of online onslaughts. Then, ChatGPT launched and, as he says, “caught lightning in a bottle… That was, sort of, an inflection point for us.”

In fact, the arrival of that first generation of what people in his business call “generative artificial intelligence”, or GenAI, has been more like seismic sea change for TrojAI, effectively prompting the firm to virtually relaunch itself for a new technological era. Indeed, he says, “For us, this has meant opening up an office in Boston last year, virtually doubling our workforce over the past 12 months, hiring our first CEO and closing a Seed+ round worth $5,750,000 earlier this year.”
