Andrew Furey is not an easy man to pin down. On the one hand, the former premier of Newfoundland and Labrador—who resigned last February after five years in the job—says “it’s not the right time for me or my family” for a return to politics.

On the other hand, the co-founder of volunteer-driven registered medical charity Team Broken Earth—freshly back in November from assessing hurricane devastation in Jamaica and talking about the growing need for global engagement on every front—teases: “I would never close the door on a future federal… involvement, politically speaking.”
