Founded by Lorne Babb in 1976, BABB Lock and Safe began as a traditional locksmith shop on Water Street in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
As the business grew, Lorne was joined by his brother Darrell and his son Gene. Together, they built BABB Security Systems into a trusted name throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
Their values never changed. Technology did–and BABB evolved with it.
Over the years, BABB expanded into automated door systems, banking equipment, electronic security, surveillance cameras, card access, alarms, ATM installations, and fully integrated security solutions. Recognizing early on that technology would reshape the industry, the company continued to adapt, combining traditional expertise with the latest advancements in electronic security. Today, our technicians are factory-trained and certified in the latest technologies and have proudly provided locksmith services to the banking industry for decades.
But technology is only part of our story. Our people have always been the heart of BABB.
Much of our success over the past 50 years belongs to the exceptional people who have worked alongside us. Behind every service call, installation, and project is a team that shows up, solves problems, and gets the job done. Their dedication has helped build our company and shape its reputation.
And none of this would be possible without our loyal customers.
For 50 years, you’ve trusted us with your homes and businesses – to repair it, replace it, secure it and sometimes find a solution when there wasn’t an obvious one.
Your trust helped transform a small locksmith shop on Water Street into the fully integrated security company that BABB Security Systems is today.
To our staff and customers: thank you for 50 remarkable years. You didn’t just support our business – you helped build it.
From a single key to 50 years of security.
BABB has been a trusted leader in Newfoundland and Labrador security industry for over 50 years.
