Newfoundland and Labrador firm launches business-minded podcast

Scott OldfordBusiness owners in Atlantic Canada have a new source to get industry insight. St. John’s-based Infinitus Marketing + Technology, a web development and marketing company, launched a weekly podcast in May that focuses on something all businesspeople love: growth. “It’s about how to grow your business, your organization or yourself,” says Scott Oldford, who is in charge of strategy and marketing for Infinitus.

Each podcast, which Infinitus is calling “Limitless Business”, is 30 minutes long and features Oldford and co-worker and podcast co-host, Hawaii-based Kaye Putnam, chatting with one expert about a particular topic. Oldford says podcasts will cover a variety of topics, but each one has a primary objective – the topics will provide CEOs and business owners with insight they can use to better themselves and their businesses.

Some of the talent-dispensing pearls of wisdom in the podcasts include Dan Martell, a Moncton-based entrepreneur and angel investor, and Saul Colt, an innovative Toronto-based Internet marketer. Oldford says Infinitus is working on lining up some “pretty big names” (Richard Branson anyone?) for the fall and winter slate of podcasts.

A new batch of podcasts will be released every Thursday and can be found at the Infinitus website and well-known podcast storehouses like iTunes and Stitcher. While Infinitus says statistics show only 13 per cent of Canadians have listened to podcasts, Oldford is banking on that number continuing to grow. He sees podcasts as an information source tailor-made for today’s tech-savvy business class. That’s because these Internet radio shows can be downloaded through any mobile device or computer and can be played whenever the listener chooses. “Lots of business owners and CEOs can learn a lot in 30 minutes from business leaders,” Oldford says. “And I look forward to these conversations because I learn as much as anyone.”

Oldford’s hoping plenty of businesspeople will look forward to them enough to tune in regularly as well.
