Don Bureau oversees 14 campuses, more than 140 programs, approximately 24,000 students and 2,000 staff. Still, the motorcycle-driving fit 56-year-old CEO of NSCC doesn’t deny he sometimes feels like a kid experiencing the world for the first time. “There’s nothing quite like being able to explore the back roads of Atlantic Canada and really… experience,” he said. “It’s amazing.”
Of course, this doesn’t eclipse his enthusiasm for the job he’s held since 2011, effectively shaping young minds (and, increasingly, older ones) with more pedagogical explorations of the world’s wonders. In fact, he said, thanks to new technologies, there’s so much more to “experience” nowadays just by staying put. And that, too, is “amazing.”
