Posted on April 22, 2021 | Atlantic Business Magazine | 0 Comments

Five-time Top 50 CEO award winner Ken Shea is president and CEO of East Coast Credit Union Ltd. in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He has grown assets under management 273% from $311 million to $850 million since 2011. During that time, ECCU has been recognized with a number of awards, including being named as a top Atlantic and Nova Scotia employer as well as receiving national awards for sustainability and community economic development and regional recognition for cooperative social responsibility.

For this episode of Take 5 with the Top 50, Paul Fudge, partner – NB advisory services practice leader with Top 50 CEO presenting sponsor Grant Thornton – talks to Ken about some of the most topical issues in the financial services industry. How does a locally-owned and managed cooperative institution stay relevant and competitive in a global environment? What are some of the most common misunderstandings and shortfalls in consumer financial literacy? And, corporate social responsibility: expense or investment?

For each episode of Atlantic Business Magazine’s Take 5 with the Top 50 CEOs video series, we ask five questions of a 2020 Top 50 CEO award winner. See video below for the full Q&A with Ken Shea.
