P.E.I. welcomes five business leaders into hall of fame
Prince Edward Island’s Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame will soon have an additional five business leaders. Jack and Carlotta Kelly, the entrepreneurs behind trucking company Bulk Carriers, education innovator Kay MacPhee, along with Murphy Hospitality Group’s Kevin and Kathy Murphy will be inducted. The gala dinner is set to take place at the P.E.I. Convention Centre in Charlottetown on May 23, 2019.

Vegan food truck starts their engine in Fredericton
The owners of Veg Out, the popular vegan stall at The Cultural Market, have announced they will be starting up a food truck this month. Shelby Harnish and partner Patrick Stewart will shell out their vegan donairs along with new items like chilli cheese dogs and kebabs. Look for them at breweries and night markets throughout the city this summer.

Dartmouth ship company lands ACOA loan
LeeWay Marine has announced a loan totalling $290,600 from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency to advance the refitting of their newest research ship. The LeeWAy Striker is geared to assist in hydrographic and geophysical surveys and the money will help to rewire the vessel, which was initially designed for a US military bid that didn’t pan out.

St. John’s taco shop hits the road
Popular Mexican restaurant Soul Azteka has always been on the move between their Freshwater Road eatery and their regular farmers’ markets appearances, but now they are hitting the road in a whole new way. Their new food truck, Poko Loko, popped up at the St. John’s Farmers’ Market and several other locations for the first time the last week of April. They sell their tacos, burritos, tortas and churros at Ninepenny Brewing and Landwash Brewery along with various markets and bazaars.

Saint John photographer opens collaborative studio and co-working space
Kelly Lawson, a Saint John-based photographer, has opened The Studio on Prince William this month at 87 Prince William Street. Lawson will offer an inspiring space for creatives and remote workers with a studio rented by the hour or week for workshops, gatherings or photo shoots, along with a coworking space and a meeting room with a large projection screen.
