100 men who give a damn: The Quest for Men who Give A Damn!

Posted on June 18, 2014 | 100 Men Who Give A Damn - NL | 0 Comments

Wow, has it really only been a month since our first blog post?

It feels as though it has been so much longer! So much has happened and we have made such progress since we first introduced ourselves.

The biggest development has to be that our website went ‘live’ and we have started the drive to build our membership. We are thrilled with how the website www.100mennl.ca looks and we have to thank www.JAC.co for all the time they have donated to working on this and the branding.

The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive and while we are not yet at 100 members we are striving to have even more than 100 members by the time of our first meeting on July 7th (at The Capital Hotel on Kenmount Rd. – www.steelehotels.com has generously donated the meeting space). The more members we have the greater an impact we can have on the charities that are doing great work in our community.

Sean Stack, Jeff Power and John Atkins attended the most recent meeting for the ladies group 100 Women Who Care St. John’s where they selected the St. John’s Women’s Centre as the recipient of their latest big donation. The ladies were very welcoming and gave us the opportunity to introduce ourselves; we then laid down the gauntlet and challenged them to see who can raise the most funds going forward.

Speedpro Signs has also come on board as a sponsor in the last month and they have been fantastic in agreeing to donate pop-up banners and other printed material, including a big novelty cheque for when we make our big donations!

While we haven’t met with our mentor Steve Winter and the NLC since our last post, it hasn’t been for a lack of trying on either side. There have been vacations and busy schedules to navigate as well as two of us, William Cahill and Sean Stack having celebrated the arrival of new babies.

That being said, we are meeting with Steve on the 19th of June and he is bringing to the table others from the NLC who will help us work on strategies to get the word out about who we are and what we do so we can continue to build our membership. We are really looking forward to this meeting and this continued mentorship.

The first meeting for 100 Men Who Give A Damn – NL is less than a month away and we are looking forward to getting all our members together for a good time and a good cause.

We’ll be back next month to let you know how our first meeting went and how we did in building our membership numbers. We’ll also be able to let you know by then which charity will receive our first big donation!

If you would like to find out more about us or how to get involved please visit our website (www.100mennl.ca) or email us at [email protected].
