2021 was ABM’s busiest year to date—and 2022 will be even busier

“Yes, that means we’ll be hosting a different type of event every two months, four of which will be taking place in more than one province. I’m thrilled and excited and… And yes, I’m petrified.”

 

Atlantic Business Magazine has just come through its busiest year in its 33-year history and 2022 looks like it’s going to be at least twice as busy again. Two times as busy as last year? Excuse me while I go throw up a bit…………

Ok, I’m back.

If I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it 10,000 times: businesses are either growing, or they’re dying. The assumption is that growth is synonymous with success. So, by that simplistic metric, we are an incredibly successful media outlet. After all, we launched our new ecommerce website in 2021, a move that tripled our subscription options. We expanded distribution channels and marketing products while managing cost increases in printing and transportation. For our July diversity issue, we printed articles in English, French, Innu Aimun and oversized font for the visually impaired (yeah, I’m still chuffed about that issue). We published our first Readers’ Choice Awards and our first list of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Atlantic Canada, both of which are well on their way to becoming annual events (more on that in a second).

Yes, 2021 was one heck of a treadmill. The thing to remember about treadmills? No matter how fast you run, you don’t actually go anywhere. The trick is to take your training and test it on the open road. That’s what we’re doing in 2022.
