After 10 years of making a name for itself as one of the most innovative companies in the digital healthcare space, VeroSource Solutions, headquartered in Fredericton, is on a mission to transform the way governments and private-sector organizations deliver this crucial service to Canadians.

Company co-founder and CEO Mark McAllister, a 20-plus-year healthcare IT industry veteran, puts it this way: “With VeroSource, we’ve got world-class digital healthcare solutions that are proactively efficient, scalable and repeatable across the Atlantic provinces, the rest of Canada, and internationally. We have a company that blends modern, super-secure technology with the best team members in the country. This gives us the ability to be agile and, most of all, relevant and responsive to the constantly changing healthcare needs of real people, everywhere.”

“We have a great mix of people who really understand the way the digital health space works, including the important and rigorous requirements around privacy and security.”

The secret, he says, is that VeroSource’s employees know and love what they do. “We have a great mix of people who really understand the way the digital health space works, including the important and rigorous requirements around privacy and security. At the same time, our software has been in the cloud since Day One. We’re not coming at this with a legacy of old technology. Our starting point is completely modern.”

He adds, “We are now a team of 45 who are nimble and excited about making a difference in people’s lives. We don’t want to come in here and just churn out code for an organization. We care.”

VeroSource’s proprietary suite of solutions securely connect people, data, and systems. The solutions are supported by a customizable gateway platform that bridges old healthcare systems and new cloud technology — making sharing and managing data more efficient, convenient, and safer than ever before. “Our team understands what it takes to ensure healthcare information is secure,” he says, “and we have the former CIO of the province of New Brunswick leading our Data and Analytics team.”

“Ultimately,” McAllister says, “we would love for health departments, regional health authorities, and private health providers to get in touch with us to discuss how our software solutions can help solve their issues and ensure better care for citizens.”

VeroSource’s solutions have been proven in jurisdictions across Canada. And with team members located across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, and Ontario, the company is able to draw from a deep talent pool that is experienced with helping clients improve healthcare delivery efficiency across the country.

One such solution is VS MyHealth, which provides individuals with secure access to their personal health information. The Government of New Brunswick launched the solution as part of MyHealthNB, which gives New Brunswickers the ability to view their lab results, immunization records, medications, diagnostic imaging, and more online.

Says McAllister: “When we founded VeroSource in 2014, we had a dream of putting healthcare information in the hands of people and families, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with MyHealthNB.”

Another VeroSource solution, VS Data-as-a-Service (VS DaaS), provides real-time access to data contained within the healthcare system. This data — for example, emergency department wait times — allows citizens to take more control over their healthcare experience. It also enables healthcare providers and governments to make data-driven decisions and determine when and how to allocate resources most effectively.

These are the kinds of solutions that VeroSource hopes to bring to jurisdictions and individuals across Canada and internationally. It’s currently securing space for itself in Halifax and Toronto to accommodate its growing team.

Ultimately,” McAllister says, “we would love for health departments, regional health authorities, and private health providers to get in touch with us to discuss how our software solutions can help solve their issues and ensure better care for citizens.”
