Last week, Michelin North America Inc. announced two projects for the Pictou County plant, which means a $20-million injection and more than 150 new jobs for the area. These new developments also mean the 200 temporary jobs set to end in 2020 will now be made permanent. The impetus for the increase in staff is a new winter tire line along with the North American launch of new semi-finished products.

Cannabis NB’s first sales climb towards $1 million
A week after the legalization of cannabis, Cannabis NB released their total sales for the first 48 hours. The province sold $950,000 in cannabis products in the first two days, with $71,083 of sales from online purchases. Newfoundland and Labrador celebrates female entrepreneurs
The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) held their annual awards gala honouring the best business leaders in the province on Thursday, October 25, 2018. Jill Curran of Lighthouse Picnics and Maxxim Vacations took home the coveted Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, while Megan Sooley of Megan Sooley Designs was honoured with the Young Entrepreneur Award. The Trendsetter Award went to Charlene Combdon of Rock Solid Diesel and the Momentum Award to Erin Stapleton of Stapleton Environmental Consulting Inc. in St. John’s. Jennifer Veitch of Veitch Physiotherapy & Wellness Centre was recognized with the Economic Impact Award.

Skip the Dishes finally hops onto P.E.I.
One of Canada’s biggest food-delivery services is now on the Island. Charlottetown residents can now order on Skip the Dishes and have food from more than 20 different local restaurants like Piatto, BOOMburger and even Cows Ice Cream delivered right to their door. P.E.I. is the last Atlantic province to receive the food-delivery service.

Organigram expands Cannabis sales across the country
New-Brunswick based cannabis producer Organigram Holdings Inc. has announced their agreement with the BC Liquor Distribution Branch. This deal solidifies the licensed sale of cannabis produced by Organigram in eight of the 10 provinces, which includes all four Atlantic Canadian provinces.
