Saskatoon-based Sun Country Highway has travelled more than 1,500 km throughout New Brunswick in a 100 per cent electrically-powered vehicle, proving that emission-free transportation is a realistic option.
Sun Country made the drive with assistance from private sector businesses and local municipalities, after installing high powered level two chargers which can charge any electric vehicle in the market today. They also offer up to 200 per cent faster charge times over other chargers offered in Canada.
Currently, the Sun Country Highway EV charging stations in New Brunswick offer free charging to the user and the electricity is paid for by the owner of the host location. No access card is required to use the device. According to a corporate release, “it costs as little as a stamp and an envelope to top up the average vehicle on the road today (using EV charging stations).”
Sun Country Highway has invested more than $100,000 in New Brunswick EV charging infrastructure to date and plans to add an additional 30 charging stations to the province at no charge. Their ultimate goal is to make Canada 90 per cent accessible by electrically-powered vehicles.
