Stepping up
Golf retailer swings for distance in St. John’s

The clouds parted. The sun shone. Cue the hallelujah chorus.

Such was the reaction from the oversized crowd of weekend duffers and serious clubbers alike when Golf Town arrived in Newfoundland’s capital city this past May. Lovers of the game oohed and aahed over the vast selection of brand name gear (Callaway, Cleveland, Cobra, Mizuno, Nike, Ping, TaylorMade, Titleist and Wilson Staff). They lined up to pay homage to the in-store putting green, hitting bays and golf simulator. And they prostrated themselves upon the altars of wisdom (a.k.a. the indoor lessons and custom club fitting services).

Wails of lament, meanwhile, were heard from longsuffering spouses.
